Quick scan vs deep scan

quick scan

In one of our recent updates, we introduced a new scan option: QUICK scan. In this article, we will explain how it works and what the difference is between deep and quick scan.

But first, the basic concepts 😊

Why do we need to scan your website and save all the links that your website contains?

Your website has a structure like a family tree. You have a main web page, the index page, and then you have other subpages. All these links together form the site map of the website. If we want to discover all these links, we need to scan your website and discover all the links.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN QUICK SCAN AND DEEP SCAN

When our crawler scans your website, there are two different crawling/scanning methods. With the quick scan, the program connects to your website, quickly downloads the HTML source code of each page, and stores it in our database. On the other hand, the deep scan method is slower because the crawler connects to your website and waits until all elements of your website are loaded (3–4 sec avg. wait time).

WHICH METHOD IS BETTER?

It depends on the particular website. There is no definite answer to this question. In 95% of cases, the quick scan transfers all text and HTML elements without any problems. In most cases, websites load the text immediately so the quick scan can find and extract all the text. However, in some cases there are websites that load the text dynamically after the user interacts with the website elements. In this case, the deep scan method is a better choice for you.
